Witches, evil queens, good wives + lion cubs,
This week I chose community connection instead of quiet solitude. I planted tiny seeds all across New York City then ended the week upstate with my chosen family. There were clouds in the sky and on the ground — it was seamless and steadfast.
🧙♀️Nic’s Picks
🛍️ Vintage & Antique Shops: On the drive upstate, we stopped at Hyde Park Antiques Center, and its sister sites at Newburgh Vintage Emporium. Across three locations, they are home to 175 local vendors. The women in charge are steady, strong and kind — I had the pleasure of chatting with Francine who gave us the warmest welcome!
📚 Local Bookstore: Miles, the owner of Diamond Hollow Books is a self-described Emily Dickinson diehard and the collection he has curated did not disappoint. He let me know he wasn’t sure if anyone was going to pick up Quartet — glad it was me!
🧘♀️Yoga & Sound Bath: My favorite part of the weekend was a morning at Streamside Yoga with Bill, a former publisher from Brooklyn. Bill led us through a journey that echoed my inner voice. We ended a morning of collective healing with the following intentions:
A deep breath for a strong + healthy body.
A deep breath for an open + honest mind.
A deep breath for a kind + healing heart.
Streamside also hosts art classes, yoga retreats, and publishes a monthly broadside of local writers. I look forward to coming back soon!
⚠️ Big Change Alert!
There’s no new track this week, but next week, you’ll meet our newest Storyteller in Residence: FranTic! He’s just a guy with one hand in his pocket and the other one holding a peace sign.
